Pick something you already do

Choose one repeatable task: turning rough notes into an outline, preparing questions for a meeting, or organizing customer feedback. A specific, familiar task gives you a way to judge whether the result is useful.

Describe what good looks like

Give the assistant the context you would give a capable colleague. Explain who the work is for, what you need at the end, and any limits. Include a small example of the result you want. Leave out confidential information unless you have checked the tool’s data settings and your obligations.

Keep a person in the loop

Treat the first result as a draft. Check claims, numbers, and sources. Decide which parts saved you effort and which needed correcting. Keep decisions that affect other people under human review.

Make the useful part repeatable

Save the instructions that worked. Add a short checklist of what you always need to verify. Start with one dependable use, then expand when you understand its limits.
